Out in the World

I managed to get out and about again today. Recall that I drove to a different town and parked outside an office for a half hour before driving home. I didn’t get out but I did turn off the truck. That was all just a pre-amble warm up to today’s adventure. I went all the way down to Chatham to discuss some things from my old job with a colleague. He has taken over my projects and wanted to make sure he’s covering everything off correctly and get some info for the coming months. We did a decent data and detail download and I explained to him how I’ve been doing it for the past couple years and made sure he knows that it will be changing rapidly all the time until only he knows what it going on. I predict in two years I won’t recognize it. The players mostly changed last fall after I was out, luckily the game remained the same. It was four hours well spent, an hour of which he was tied up on a call so I gathered some links and info to share. They were starting their wheat harvest which was good to see.

After a long, leisurely drive home during which I called both my parents, I had some leftovers and some fresh fare. I polished off the last of the Chinese feast and had a misshapen oven pizza. I called both parents to give a boat update. I talked to the mechanic working on the engine this morning and learned that the stator he’d ordered from the factory was problematic. We also ordered a $300 sensor that accompanies the stator, possibly the trigger that may not have been the issue. It appears the stator is wired backwards. This means that it passes the ohm test but not voltage. It was registering 8V rather than the 200V+ that was expected. That is why they can’t get a spark. The mechanic is working with the manufacturer to find a solution now. Not sure when it will be seaworthy. I did learn the motor is a 1998 though, information I didn’t have previously. It is now a wait and see thing. Hopefully we get it sorted out sooner rather than later.
