Canada Day

As with most Canadians, I was given a day off from work to celebrate the 153rd anniversary of the birth of our nation. A couple years ago I would have said our great nation but for the first tine in my life I have doubts about the future direction of my country. But we’re not here for political discourse, we’re here for dingers!!! I hope you’re not actually here for that either, I haven’t hit a homerun since 2011. I still maintain that I left my power in China in the summer of August 2009, I was never the same after that. Not related is that I stopped working out in mid-2009. Speaking of inactivity, I didn’t do much today. In retrospect I’m seeing a pattern in that the first day I get off my natural inclination is to do as little as possible. It might be some sort of rebellion or a way of exerting control over something when I might perceive that I have a lack of control over other things. Interesting thought, I might have to meditate on that one further. But as for the day, I ate two modest meals and did all the time suck activities I usually partake of. I watched some YouTube, I played Microsoft Solitaire Collection, I listened to the end of my audiobook, I played NHL2020, I played C&C, I played Battlefront II, and I read a little from my book. There were two “productive” items I thought I could accomplish but only got one done. I wanted to order the new part for the exercise bike and I wanted to cut the lawn. I ordered the part but confidence is not high that it will get here or that it will work. It was $36 USD for a new pair of cranks and almost as much to ship to Canada. We’ll see what happens. The lawn is in dire condition. It is dying from the drought stress but the thistles are thriving with their damn taproots.

I have been considering a unique approach to this unique problem. The ideal situation would have been to treat the weeds properly in the spring when the lawn was lush and healthy. Now that it’s stressed I don’t want to do that. It is likely that I will jus mow the weeds on a higher setting and wait for rains. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. The lady next door has been watering like crazy and her lawn isn’t looking much healthier than mine. I think she’s wasting her water and her time at this point.
