Life Finds a Way
Today I woke up with a mild headache. I’m not sure the two meals and limited water intake of yesterday was a strong plan. I have officially run out of eggs so I was forced to outsource breakfast this morning. I got a smoothie and a breakfast samidge. Since I was about, I watered all the plants and walked around the yard, assessing my options for the thistles. I think my idea from yesterday will suffice. I can see myself rationalizing up an excuse around the heat to avoid doing it though. I’m quite adept at that.
Things started very slow and mundane, it was actually a struggle to get motivated. I ended up in an assigned computer based training (CBT) where I found myself falling asleep mid-morning. I’m not sure what my issue was. An early lunch, poop and moment outside seemed to have woken my brain up which led to a very productive afternoon. Once it rolled up to quitting time I started an early dinner and noticed a couple of things. I should mention that back a few months ago, as the weather started to improve, I opened up the doors on either side of my home to air the place out, creating a wind tunnel. The wind was a bit more aggressive than I bargained for and it upset my cactus. It’s been going strong since 2006.
My cactus was finally starting to bounce back, I saw some new growth happening. You can see the damaged tissue is still prominent but it’s finally showing promise. There was a similar incident when I moved in to the Harbour, back when the cactus could still support its own weight. It got damaged during the move and I lost a foot or so off the one side. It recovered from that experience and is coming back from this one too. It was encouraging to see. I guess life finds a way. Because of this kinship I was feeling with the cacti, I couldn’t take out the thistles. The rest of the evening was spent playing a selection of vidja games, culminating in playing C&C with all three of my chums who similarly indulge. It was very fun.
