Drizzler
The hose didn’t quite get choked off enough, the sky kept going. It has been a few days of steady rain resulting in nearly three inches of moisture falling. It was good for the crops but now it’s bordering on excessive. The soil should be charged up for a couple weeks to carry things into the dry summer weeks of July. One crop that hasn’t suffered yet is the potatoes. The ones I hilled are looking pretty sharp and should have some massive yields.
I was down that way to have a look at them when I went to help the Mayor out. He had recently removed a concrete pad from in front of his house and needed a spot to toss it. The Big T recently had a tile washout and needed something to stop the erosion. This was a win-win. Except for me, I was the labour. It wasn’t that bad, there were a dozen or so man-killer chunks but the rest were fun to toss. We threw the bigger pieces into the hole and so placed them after. The rest we tossed into place. It looks pretty good and should hold up any future erosion.
The afternoon was a large gap filled with unproductive behavior like naps and YouTube. The Big T got home and I helped him move some wagons to another farm and to set him up to spray in the morning. I had to duck out before he finished though because Cheese was in a a standup comedy competition and I wanted to see his performance. He did really well and got predominantly positive feedback from the judges. He didn’t win the title of best in city on paper but he was the winner. He got a strong confidence boost directly from Yuk Yuk’s creator Mark Breslin, which was pretty cool. I coasted into bedtime after that. Nice vacation day!
