Boating Up
The boat accessory collecting continued tonight. I really need to go to a better place to get my accoutrement, Canadian Tire is more costly. There was a sale of life jackets, but what I didn’t realize is that they only carry medium end ones. I found out with a simple google search that Bass Pro Shops have a wide range. It’s not for me, just one to keep in the boat to satisfy regulations. So that was expensive. I took a chance on a boat cover. It was on sale and appears to be appropriate. No clue whether this brand/model are any good, just dropped a mound of cash on a split decision. I’m used to agonizing over these choices and reading the box and looking it up online, comparing different brands, etc. In the pandemic age, you can’t even touch something without tacitly committing to buying it. Maybe if I was wearing gloves as well as the mask I donned I could. Either way, those are two items that I was hunting because of the deals. I also scooped out hitches and balls. I’m not sure what size the trailer hitch is, I’m told 1 7/8” but I’ll believe that when I see it. I also want to get a feel for how much drop in the receiver would be ideal for smooth travel. I’ll be getting a 6000lb model of ball and receiver. What I could buy is the hitch pin. I got a set of locking receiver pin and hitch pin combo on the same keys. Should help me feel more secure when I’m trailering it around or leaving the truck while out fishing. That felt like a good investment. I did manage to save a good swath of cash with the sales as you can see below.
But the fun didn’t end with boat stuff. I plan my outings for weeks in advance so I had a number of other items to get too. I needed a new dryer vent cover for outside, the little fins have all broken off the current one. To further protect that I bought a critter cover to make sure pesky birds aren’t messing around in there. I got a Father’s Day gift for the Big T. He knows what it is, I find it’s best to ensure he actually needs what I’m planning to get. He doesn’t take kindly to surprises. Just ask the work overalls I got him a couple years back which have yet to be worn. The last thing I grabbed was a new shower head for the auxiliary shower of my en-suite. The so called undercarriage rinser will be back in business. I was able to fiddle around and get that installed before bedtime. Hopefully it doesn’t leak, I skipped the plumber’s tape. It was an expensive trip but I should be better prepared for the boating and some home improvement projects.
