Hot Spring Nights

We have officially entered that awkward phase of the year. There are actually two such periods in the year. It’s not warm enough to really warrant firing up the air conditioning unit but it’s warm enough to make the heat irrelevant. It’s more fun at the other end of the year because you can adjust by adding layers, less so on this end. Once you remove all the layers of clothes that’s as far as you can go. You can’t shed your epidermis that fast. Over a period of months you can, but it’s replaced by a new one anyways so no use trying that method. Where my home is situated, the afternoon sun beats down on the back of my home relentlessly and that happens to be where my thermostat is located. So as the temperature drives higher through the pm hours, the reading on the wall skyrockets. It keeps the house artificially cool in summer, but I’ve adjusted the settings to account for that. I’ve left the system on the heat function but the furnace hasn’t been kicking on lately because it’s been seasonably warm. So the house warms and cools dramatically and I’ve lost my consistency. This lack of consistency has started to affect my sleep. Through the quarantine I’ve had some periods of erratic patterns from stress but otherwise have slept like a champion. These temperature swings have been inconvenient. Yesterday saw a turning point. I was working on something in my office and started sweating just sitting there on the computer with the hot sun greenhousing my office. I bit the bullet and turned on the AC. I checked it closely before and after to make sure it was working well after months of inactivity. I let it rip for a few hours to cool my world down and moved the system to off later in the evening. We’ll see what the coming days bring but I know this battle will continue. Anyone else dealing with these types of nonsense?
