Calendar Collision
Last night I had a real issue with scheduling. My movie call gang was fixing to watch another film and my other group chat wanted to resurrect our weekly call. The resurgent call was slated to take place first, in my mind I saw them gracefully occurring sequentially. I planned to have a few cocktails during these calls. It has been some weeks since I’ve partaken and I’m hearing a lot of tales about others getting after it on a regular basis and thought I should blow off some steam also. I had a late dinner due to a strange eating schedule during the day and decided to pop the tops off a few with my dinner. This gave me a running start into the first call. We peaked at six participants and we had some good laughs and told some fun stories for a couple hours. I had pre-warned my movie call that I’d be late and that I’d be less than coherent and might struggle getting into the film. I think they ended up watching something on YouTube which should have been manageable. As they started the second call I told them to proceed without me, that I’d catch up. I kept on the first call until it’s natural conclusion then joined the second. I had translated my first call from a running start to a marathon at this point. The first six went down very quick and then I was in a regular rhythm. By the time I joined the second call I was staring down the barrel at ten dead soldiers. A casual ten I call it. I didn’t bother to turn on the movie they were well into. I just was a loud disruptive ape for a half hour or so, finishing a couple beers, a few pints of water, and having some laughs before pulling an Irish exit. I simply hung up on my end and packed it in. I texted a few people back, tidied up and was sawing logs before high noon.
I was feeling fairly rough this morning when I awoke after 8am. I was planning to go shopping and get some specific ingredients so I could have a bake-off vs Dutchie but I was unable to get going. She also couldn’t do it today as they had to make plans on how to re-open their business in the coming weeks. I’m assuming it was mostly my fault. Hard to have a bake-off without ingredients. I was willing to watch her do it but I suspect she is looking forward to the competitive aspect, especially since she will likely dust me. Hopefully I can find a way to film it and post it. Until then, I’m going to work on recovering.
