Corn Tour Day 9
The final day away from my home base. I started the same way as the previous day, shower just in case and packing up. This time I took everything with me and had a more reasonable feed at the breakfast bar. I also met Double B at this research farm, rather than him picking me up. We started by reviewing the material that we hadn't gotten to the previous day. I had to be on the road at a certain time to get over to the territory of JJ Bellz so we were pretty quick through the rest of that site. I made my journey across Montreal and beat JJ to the site. I was mostly done the first of two sets before he arrived and we went through the rest together. The sites I had looked at on the weekend were actually JJ's so I didn't have much left to see in his realm.
I found this in one of JJ's sites. I've never seed this before or since. Not sure what is the cause.
Another anomaly. These are three unpollinated ears, all over my head. I've never seen corn try to make three full sized ears and then not both to pollinate any.
We finished that site and went for lunch. He took me to his new fave spot, one he says he's at weekly. I can see why. It was affordable and very good food. I've had shawarma now so that's off the food bucket list. We ventured on to his research farm to see the last set of the day and the trip. It was stupid hot again and it was obvious I was hoping to go quick through that set. We managed to get good notes and move at a good pace. We chatted away the whole time, discussing changes and upcoming concerns, it's always good to have that time with my co-workers. He invited me to clean up at the shop before starting my six hour excursion back to the Harbour. I took him up on that and traded him his cooler and a Beau's Marzan for some shear bolts and a Gatorade. I made a further stop at the depanneur for beer and fuel. You have to grab beer when you're in Quebec. That lead into a long journey home. I stopped for supper after a few hours to refresh my mind. It was a short stop and I powered through. I wasn't as nearly as gassed from that drive as I had been from the return trip the previous year. I dumped my bag into the hamper and crawled into my bed for what would ultimately turn out to be a short night.
