The Rest of September
So with the trip to Chicago eating most of a week, then prepping for the Farm Show and the Show itself eating the second week, and the Corn Tour eating another week and a half, I was left with only about half a week of September to work with. The morning I got back to work was a big deal meeting at the Farm Show site. I had asked my technician to help them with the setup and we both showed up early to make sure they had everything they needed. I had to go get a paper for them but otherwise they were pretty self sufficient. I hurried back to the farm to get my guy on his way to harvesting a silage plot off-site and then started readying my site for a tour the next day for another function in the company. It was most physical labour that I wanted but I was able to get the site looking halfways okay for their purposes. They were happy with the way it looked so I didn't go much further than that. They had their first ever dealer launch the next afternoon and liked the way it all went. We kept out of their way doing our own thing while it all happened. The next day we had the safety person visit and spent most of the morning with her before debating whether to harvest or not. We ended up having lunch in town and taking the last of the notes. The Saturday was bust, we got to the site and ready to harvest only to discover that when they brought the harvester off-site they damaged the load cells. I arranged for a company to come repair them but that wouldn't happen until October. It was a busy few days upon returning from the Corn Tour but busy is better than not busy so it was good. I'm glad that my crazy month is over and I hope that I just get caught up quick and start tackling the next phase of harvest.
