Wistful Weekend
The weekend started off so nice. Many loving phone calls from family and friends to wish me a happy birthday. I got to bed at a decent hour after watching some good stuff on TV. RED2 and Brojects on CMT to be specific. I got to text with a couple of cool people for the majority of the evening so life was pretty sweet. Fast forward to 4:16am on Saturday morning. I awoke without the ability to breathe normally! My nose was plugged solid from walking around in a fog of corn pollen all day Friday and part of Thursday. My uvula was swollen to painful proportions. This severely impeded my ability to swallow comfortably. In certain positions I could arrange my mouthparts so that it didn't hit the back of my tongue which induces gagging and basic barf symptoms. The absurd nature of this unexpected condition caused me undue panic and fear. I was able to breath with effort when arranged on my side. I tried to unclog my nose to no avail. I was going to have to wait it out. I manage to steal a few hours of sleep toward six bells but was not fully rested. The swelling dragged on into the morning. I googled the condition after deciding that I may have to take this one to the pros at the hospital. Two relief moves were to gargle lukewarm saline or to slam 10-12 glasses of water. I began the water onslaught immediately. By noon I'd hit the mark and did notice a difference. I heated up some Zoodles and chomped them down to a paste and was able to effortlessly swallow it down. Ice water gargling followed and before mid-evening the swelling was down to a manageable level. I couldn't comfortably say the sound "F" for most of the day. I'm glad I didn't need to go into a tirade of curses, I would have been severely limited. The sleep was excellent and I awoke do do my weekly groce. I got halfway there and realized I didn't actually need anything outside of chips and candy. So I turned the truck around and headed straight for my book. I did that for most of the day, stopping only to prepare and consume sensible meals (for once). Laundry, dog walking and dishes filled out the day. Now we're here, Sunday night. All that is left is a final bathroom trip for the dog and myself and it's slumber time. Well, after the mediation, day seven today, it's been going good. The app says that there will be good days and bad, it was right. Only one day stood out as ineffectual. I'm still enjoying it and have started looking at what the subscription buys me. If anyone else has experience with Headspace let me know before I drop the cash on it.
