Tugboat Day

It arrived with very little fanfare. Things picked up as the day went on and I got an average number of well wishers. Most fringe friends ignored the day and even a few good ones. But I knew it was my birthday. And so did someone on a colleague's team who informed my team. I had been passively keeping it from them all year, despite several inquiries. I was able to keep them in the dark until around 9:42 am. I had sent one to manage a project on her own, one was off and one was crippled up with a peg leg type symptom. Peg and I traveled around to many of my sites to do some corn ratings. Peggy stood outside the field while I ventured in to take the numerical ratings. It was not exciting and easily the worst task I had to do on my birthday. But Peggy was hurt and I didn't want to be responsible for exacerbating her injury. I made sure I got to KFC for a birthday lunch treat. But other than that the day wasn't the spectacular experience one would want on one's birthday. For the first time in my experience the dog held her poop for the street portion of the walk. Skipping over the long grass in the meadow that I could get away with leaving and holding out until I would have to pick it up. Not the greatest gift I've gotten. Then work was no picnic and the dog was annoying even after her evening walk. Barking and whining. I don't speak dog! Learn English! She refuses to do so to this point. I should find Rosetta Stone and just let it play for 10 hours a day while I'm gone. See if that makes a difference. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Regardless, I fielded several calls, many texts and the odd snap throughout the day, which was pretty nice. So all in all, pretty decent day.
