#DW2016 - Chapter 3
There is a chance there will be more than three chapters. Thankfully that will make things more legit. So where did we leave off, oh yes, lunch on Friday. Seemingly early into our adventure to already be in the third chapter, I know. So after we finished lunch and it got cleaned up we decided that more time outside was in order. I work outside daily so the novelty had worn off for me years ago but these poor oppressed souls have to work indoors or even underground so I was happy to oblige them. The details of what happened next are hazy but I am pretty sure there were yard games and sun enjoyment. There might have been some beers too. I do recall that I was finishing the dishes when Jacky Jonks rolled in. He just walked in then we erupted with fanfare. He settled himself in and we were outside for the most of the rest of the day. We played bocce, we played stickball, or Junk Ball if you're using the trade name. We had a predictably huge game. GRP and Tugboat took on the rest. If you're unfamiliar with the rules of stick ball then join the club, it took us too long to get it sorted out. Next was the field design, that went pretty quick. We used Cheese's lawn bowling pins to mark things out. I don't remember the score, but I know we all had fun, which normally would signal that I lost but I truly don't recall what happened in that game, best guess is that GRP and I won it. Then Beer Guy fished again, this time taking the paddle boat out. I ended up on the dock to watch the sunset with GRP and mitt full of beers. Cheese would describe the scene to us as epic, the sun setting, the silhouettes, etc. He and Jack had a nice chat under the trees and even got to meet the neighbours. From that encounter we learned quite about the landlord of the cottage we rented. It really made some things fall into place for us. As the sun set we trekked back into the cottage for dinner. GRP had prepared a delicious pulled pork meal for us. While he was preparing it, Brown appeared. He hauled all his business in and after an extensive re-org of the fridge we enjoyed our meal. We got drunk and played Cards Against Humanity as adults do. Double J won easily. Beer Guy and Jack were tuckered out and faded off to sleep fairly early into the evening. The other three of us tried another adult board game but only lasted a couple of rounds before it was time to sleep. I think we had all powered down somewhere just after high noon. That is the cost/benefit of the day drinking. That wraps up a busy Friday, more to come in the next chapter.
The lovely sunset at Sunset Hideaway.
