#DW2016 - Chapter 2

In the last submission I framed up the weekend, now it's time to recount it. I'm going to attempt to stretch it out over two postings, mostly because I did that chapter thing in the title last time and if it's only two then it seems sort of weak to include chapters. Three is going to be sparse enough. Let's dig into it then. There was going to be a slow addition to the crew over time. I don't think I mentioned this in the last one and I can't be bothered to click around and check. GRP, Beer Guy, Cheese and the Tugboat would be arriving deep into the night on Thursday and then Jacky J would appear sometime in the afternoon on Friday and Brown coming after work on Friday. That was the plan as it stood. So the first round of guys made it in good order. Cheese and I went into town and grabbed some last minute items from the trusty Metro grocer. We didn't even get lost this year, it was magnificent. We witnessed a hilarious situation too on the return trip. There is a set of traffic signals at the entrance to an old folk's home. An older woman started crossing just as the lights turned to be wrong for her to do so. A fancier white car driven by a middle aged woman was pulled up to the line and raring to go. The middle aged woman said something to the old girl who just swiped her hand at the car as if to say, "piss off" and just kept walking at the same pace. It was quite funny to watch. The arrival and settling phase went very smoothly and soon some drinks were opened after a tight meal was devoured. GRP was next to arrive and then the Beer Guy rolled in. We all got tipsy and somehow ended up vacuuming the overhead lights out. Sound weird? It was! Beer Guy let a million flies in when he was entering, we vacuumed them up and dispatched them. I suspect it was nearing midnight when we all settled into our beds for the night. I awoke the next morning to find the Beer Guy's couch empty and no one cooking breakfast. I spied him on the dock and started down to the lake. I arrived as he pulled in a good sized bass, not unlike the one in the previous post's picture. After several 'last casts' he went in to make breakfast, Cheese and I lied to him about the time to make sure we got to the golf course on time. To celebrate us golfing, Beer Guy made a special breakfast dish, pictured below. We hit the links, such as they were, and had an enjoyable game of Bingo, Bango, Bongo. GRP almost changed his name to Bango with all the points he got off those. In the end Cheese won handily, only missing getting a point on one hole. We played 18 holes and were well ready for lunch when we got back. There is no photo due to the fairly pedestrian nature of the meal but it was a hot pressed corn beef on rye sandwich with aged white cheddar accompanied by a thai coconut tomato soup. I enjoyed it, obviously. Piping hot soup on a piping hot day. That got us halfway through Friday. I'll continue in the next chapter.
