#DW2016 - Chapter 1
I'm probably not supposed to go into huge detail on the happenings of this event, what happens at a cottage with buddies is a sacred and private secret never to be revealed but since I know for a fact that all of the other participants have wives and significant others that they reveal everything to, I'm not worried. That and I'm pretty positive that they don't read this site ever so I think I'm in the clear. It was the second annual gathering at this specific location. Last year we did it for Cheese's bachelor party. That time it was all about Cheese, we played the games he wanted to play, we ate the food he choose, we had a great time! This time it was more of a free-for-all. It started out using the fact that neither the Booj or Jacky J (aka Ron Ronks) had any kind of pre-wedding festivities with the boys but when the Booj bailed and Jack wasn't sure when he could get there it morphed into Dudes Weegend 2016. We tried some novel ideas that we stole from girls on this weekend. One of them is around food. This has always been a point of contention for dudes sharing a living space, mainly the only one that comes up. We had to figure out how to fairly eat. In the past, like DW2014 and DW2015 we bought a bunch of groceries and split the final cost, that generated some waste food. Roy got to have some burned burgers at DW2014 but really it's not ideal. Usually the tastes of the individual tend to get ignored and the lowest common denominator is that we eat trash for a few days. This year would be different though. We decided to assign meals out to each guy. It wasn't exactly fair just because some guys wouldn't be there the whole time. So what I did was assigned numbers based on arrivals since guys weren't leaving early, why would they! I then used a random number generator with varying parameters to assign each meal. Once a person was chosen they were out of the running for an additional meal and the spin that generator their assigned number was ignored. It worked out that there were six guys and six meals to be made. Cheese forgot to make his, but I think it's cause of the liquor and the fishing. The system worked great. The rest of the "Simple Rules" and things to bring didn't vary from the previous year so once those were communicated we were ready to have a great time. I've used this post to set up the weekend, I'll run it down in the next ones. The details you're yearning for are that it took place on a lake near Rama at a place called Sunset Hideaway. The final guest list was Tugboat, Cheese, Beer Guy, GRP, Jack J, Brown, with the Booj bowing out last minute. Stay tuned for the rundown.
