The Shopping Continues
ŁWe started early agin on this day. Early to bed, early to rise as they say. We all woke up and had some French toast, then various parties departed to garner their exercise for the day. I stayed back and rocked tunes with Uncle Al. We listened to the Sandy Hook benefit concert on the stereo that the Mayor brought down, I guess it didn't work at his place but works really well here. We'll be exploring more of the library as the week progresses I'm sure. It is a rare treat to be able to just sit and listen to music for me. Well, I wasn't only listening. I am ferociously attacking my book which migh not make the voyage back with me if I reach it's end. I suppose I can find another of that is the case. So reading and tunes carried us through the exercise phase of today. Then began the shopping phase. We headed to a grouping of stores which was just a mammoth strip mall in Gatlin. But there was something else I that complex that would potentially seal my fate, a date with destiny, more on that later. So we debated heatedly about what to do. We had chosen this spot for the potential farmers market which turned out to be a massive bust so direction was unclear. We set a meeting point in space time and branched out. I started in Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I must say, only the Beyond held any interest for me. I had lots of time left so I struck off to see what else I could find. The Target was too large to properly investigate so I continued to Sports Authority, a chain that is closing its doors. This I spent some time in. Mostly clothing awaited me, clothing I knew would never fit me so I walked to the back and found some hockey sticks, only road hockey gear. I grabbed one and found a ball. I started working it and bouncing the ball in the air. I was hoping that I would get reprimanded for this behaviour so I could let them know I was from Canada and it was okay if I do it but nobody stopped me. So I continued on with my journey. I walked past several other stores but they didn't hold much interest for most of the male gender. I met the group and we decided to circle the lot and drop the women off wherever they wanted and then head to Bass Pro. We saw an Office Max and had to go in as a team to develop a photo before conducting our plan. The Bass Pro was awesome, the fish tank was stocked with local fish that are foreign to my eyes. It was neat to see them in action. I bought a nice shirt for summer. We met the ladies and this is where all that destiny talk comes in. In that parking lot was an Olive Garden. An item on my bucket list was to enjoy a meal at this establishment. The group indulged my fantasy and we settled in for an amazing lunch. We even got to order off the lunch menu! I took pictures and was right into it. Best part was that for the five of us it was only $60! That is an amazing deal for some of the tastiest fare I have sampled in my time. We had previously planned a modest dinner of chicken pot pies from Marie Callendar so this worked out perfectly. We visited Sam's Club and the grocery store Publix. But before that we nixxed another big item off the 'must see' list. We visited the Lotus Gun Store. This is a huge gun retail outlet. It was insane. Sniper rifles, silencers, pistols, assault rifles. It can't be understated how outrageous this place was. So many death making devices. It was pretty scary to see. Quite a harrowing experience. We wrapped up our day with those aforementioned stops. We had a cocktail hour again and bided our time before our tasty meal. It was punctuated by a chocolate silk pie from Perkins. What a treat! We whiled away the evening with some reading and they called all their offspring. Another nice day. Vacation is going swimmingly thus far.
