End of the Streak

Well I was lazy this weekend. I took a vacation from my vacation apparently. Inadvertently of course. In doing so I busted my impressive streak of daily posts. I think I was getting 5-7 unique users checking daily during the meat of the streak. The succulent, juicy meat of the streak. I could go for some of that. Or even better I'd love to slurp back some of that amazing clam chowder from New England Fish Market. But those days are behind me now. I'm no longer in the southlands, no longer swamp adjacent. I'm back in the frozen tundra of the Northlands. Well, it isn't exactly frozen. I was outside today without a coat! There is a warm snap hovering over my territory currently, it won't last forever, cold will be back in a few weeks just to settle everyone down. But for right now, spring fever is in the air. But I'll hold off on that for now. So we were talking about the trip, I do have the photos to inject into this medium but I will likely do that later. I might just tack them on to the bottom of the appropriate posts to force you to go back and re-read them, or at least scroll madly on your device to see the evidence that it all happened. The favourite ones will be added to the stockpile in the Images tab. I have one of some sand that I particularly enjoy, I don't know why. But you're probably concerned with where I was and why I didn't post anything yesterday. In the spirit of being concise I'll try and hit the highlights with limited ranting. So here it is, I was packed and ready to rock an hour before the departure time for the airport. I got there and easily passed through security and arrived at my gate about ninety minutes before my flight. Every chair at the gate was filled for my flight. I was stunned. So I found another empty gate to wait at, where I could still hear the gate agent. I got to gate check my back again this time. I had the aisle seat this time too, which was better than the flight in where I had the middle. I boarded without incident with my small bag. I was able to easily find a spot for it above my seat and I settled in to watch Force Awakens again. It was just as good if not better the second time around. My seat buddies, a married couple from who cares where, both had to use the bathroom at the same time so I let them loose. It is an awkward wait to just stand at your seat by yourself for no apparent reason. The customs cart was coming down the aisle and it made re-entry quite awkward, for them. Next, we landed about fifteen minutes late, standard operating procedure for the dummies at Air Canada. This meant that we had the lovely pleasure of going through customs with several other flights. In the past I find that it is relatively spaced out based on arrival times so that the lines don't get out of control. Those hoots at Air Canada don't concern themselves with that so it was a devastatingly long lineup.  They had to add extra chutes to contain the overflow. I've never seen anything like it. The douche behind me was on the horn gabbing about work with someone, his father was his boss, I know cause he said it about seventy six times. He was a little whiner and you could tell not well liked. At least I didn't like him and his loud, obnoxious canter that he maintained for half the wait in line, right behind me. The fantasy of turning around and driving him in the yap and delivering a perfectly pithy retort occupied my mind as we trudged slowly toward the final short lines to speak with a border guard. My chat lasted about thirty seconds and I was moved into the next lineup. This one was to show my now marked up card to the other guards. It weaved around the baggage carousels back and forth. It was laughable how long it was. At one point people just tried to crush in near the start and were reprimanded by the yellow vested airport staff. The line moved quickly after that and I got out of the airport a mere seventy minutes after I landed, a new record. I met She outside immediately and we visited the Beau's warehouse for her to stock up before heading West. I hadn't eaten all day so I forced a stop at DQ. I did a lot of hot eats and no cool treats. I gave the gifts and headed for home. Finally returning to my big comfortable bed, my respite from the world. The trip was at a close, as was the day.
