The Second Day
I fed my FitBit steps today. The hungry little monster got a good dose. We've been drinking more booze than I usually do so I felt I should take some measures. And the walking seemed to be enough in my mind. In the real world, I should be running or doing weights of cross fit or yoga-lates. But we do what we do. It got its meal when I had an extra hour before our dinner meal. As many of you know, when you attend out of town meetings your life gets very regimented. Especially when there are group dinners involved. Your day could start at 8am and not conclude until the end of dinner and pleasantries at 9pm or later depending on the pleasantries. So in that rare slab of free time, I decided to feed the machine before I fed. They say you should never do that with dogs or they will expect it and could become the dominant species, in their opinion. So I knew what risk feeding my machine first could inherently entail. But undeterred by the horrifying possibilities or probabilities, I forged ahead. I started much like Forrest Gump, a small goal, reach the end of the block. Then I figured I'd gone that far, why not continue down a ways, the block wasn't too bad. Then I saw I was close to the Hill. So I crambled on to the Hill and looked at where our government does stuff sometimes. Then I realized I had to get back for dinner so I turned on my heel and made it in good time to achieve my destiny. For years the Brown one and I have had this thing about lobster risotto. He said he would make it for me, I felt he was going to. But he made real lobsters and felt he was in the clear. A full lobster does not count as risotto. So he or the universe had to afford me the opportunity to quench this thirst. It quickly became a bucket list objective. Not something to be sought, but something to come to me. And that night it did. And it was glorious! We had a strong meal and then ventured into the darkness for a delightful night cap, which as it turns out was very enlightening for us. Bed before high noon as usual. Which is good because the next day was the only full day of the adventure.
