Unshaven Brute
Yesterday was the first foray I had outside my nest. I actually went outside and left my property for the first time since the previous week. I got groceries Sunday morning so almost four full days of entrenching myself within the confines of my home. Don't get me wrong, I was outside. The driveway wasn't going to shovel itself, I gave it ample opportunity. I should have invested in a heated driveway, but that might have been on the expensive side. Maybe next time I win the lottery. Another thing that hasn't happened since the previous weekend was shaving. I've rationalized it by telling myself that I'm going to test my limitations in 2016. First, and easiest, is to see if I can grow anything on my face. So far the results are overwhelmingly discouraging. I guess in the short time from mid-harvest to mid-winter I haven't miraculous divined a fashion to expedite facial hair development. What I have produced is a blonde and red patchwork, with key missing sections. I've also decided to see what happens north of that. I've been meaning to get a haircut but in sticking to the wild beast theme I haven't made the effort. It's a good time to do it. I've been holed up in my office making plans for the last week. Not devious plans, just ones to ensure that I have a productive and useful 2016 field season. I didn't have to see people so if was okay to look like a pre-pubescent monster. But they lured me to the office with lunch. Also, they wanted us to be in the room if possible. It's always hard to be on the phone if the majority is in the room. So I went looking like a beast. I think it is expected I'll look terrible by now, so I dressed up a touch just throw them off. Such a wiley dude the Tugboat is. Anyways, it was fine. Met with Brown and She after work for dinner. There was miscommunication as usual, this time my fault. So it was a piecemeal meal. It was good. We laughed and when they both started to nod off or engage their phones I took that as my notice to get out. I came home and went to bed, sleep didn't come easy but it was good when it did. The cold kept me from a deep sleep but I got over seven hours they say so it was enough. I'm up and at them this morning but with a certain malaise and fog within me. We'll see how I fare on this Friday, day of days.
