Grizzly Game Recap - Game 3

After the information blackout of a week ago, I got the full story for game three. The Grizzlies continued their early season success by clipping the wings of the Pass It squad by a score of 4-2. There was drama, strong play and an underdog redemption story line in this week's matchup.

The Beer Guy showed up late for an already shorthanded Grizzly group. Admiral Bonesaw had to play the entire game on the backend, primarily defending rather than his usual role of attacking. Rek and the Beer Guy got paired together for this match and the chemistry of the two old friends paid dividends for the Grizz. Rek got things started with a workman type goal. In a past life he attempted to get into the sanitation business and what ever research he did then paid off tonight as he played the role of garbage man on the first goal while tapping in a greasy loose ball. Next to light the lamp was his partner up front, the Beer guy. After taking the centering pass from Rek, Beer Guy rifled a seeing eye shot through a screen and past the keeper's arm. Playing deep in his net was not a benefit against the clever Grizzly forward duo.

The gym was not as hot this week but that didn't stop the action from getting heated. One member of Pass It allowed his emotions to boil over when his stick was accidentally knocked from his grip. He responded with a firm shove to the inadverted offender who happened to be the smallest player on the floor. His team was penalized for this egregious transgression. Keep that moment tucked into the back of your mind.

Both teams played it hard, Rek even took a ball in the face. I'm told that's not the first time he's experienced that, but he was unphased. His beard protected him from any serious injury. The Pass It squad managed to laser two shots past the Grizzly keeper from their own end. Two physics defying shots in this instance. The Grizzly keeper, who was their third in three games managed to shake it off like Taylor Swift and keep them in the game. I'm told he will be returning and provide some stability in the Grizzly net.

The winning goal came off the stick of the guy that got shoved. There was no real description of the goal itself, just that it was a redemptive moment for the whole Grizzly squad. The kind of moment that gels a team together. They did have chances to run up the score but missed both penalty shots they were given. That keeps them as o-fers for the year in that regard. But when the same goes for losses then nobody seems to mind. The Beer Guy added to his goal total late in the match by sliding one through a D-man's legs when the goalie was pulled and into the emtpy net. This eased the pressure and allowed the Grizzlies to cruise to their third straight win; a true winning streak. Check back next week for more.
