The Exception or the Rule

So today was strange. Emails were low, phone calls were low. Overall annoyance was very low. Maybe the rain subdued things for me. The rain itself was an annoyance. I wanted to do field work and get it over with but Mother Nature marches to her own drums as I have demonstrated over and over again through this medium. I have done it up large in front of your eyes, or ears if you are using some kind of text to speech application. They are thing, I've used them for various purposes outside of their original intention. Speaking of application, I have a challenge for you, for a week try not to say "app", in lieu say the full version, application. It is not easy and sounds ridiculous. "Is there an application for that?" I find it amusing. Let me know how that works out. Probably won't be that fun unless you share my sense of amusement with it. Amusement is in the mind of the amuser? Can that be an idiom? I'm not sure it has the same panache as beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I could go all scientific and talk about how it wouldn't actually be in the eye, it would be in the optic nerve or in the neo-cortex or wherever we store our short term memories, if we do at all. I've done some light reading on the subject because it also amuses me, for completely different reasons mind you, and learned that memories don't have a physical storage location. As I aged I always had envisioned memories as being stored in a secure part of the brain akin to a vault in the bank. I was lead to this surmission by phraseology from my elders about locking things in the vault. I guess my limited experience directed my consciousness to the specific image of an old timey vault in a poorly secured bank in the old West. That was where I pictured my most precious memories being housed. Now I am discovering that not only was I very incorrect but also that leaders in the field cannot provide a cogent and concise explanation to where things are stored if at all. I still wonder about a collective human consciousness that overlaps us all but that hasn't and possibly may never be authenticated to anything past theory and conjecture. I don't know how I would test for such things and I am a full blown scientist. If we can't prove something like that does it make it less true? If we don't have the proper tools to find something to be true or incorrect can that decide the fate of a thing right there? I think I'm getting too philosophical and I'm not qualified to walk this road. I will simply say that this Monday was a different version of the same animal and then link back to the title as if I'd planned it all out in advance and ponder if it could be the exception or the rule to Mondays. I hope I didn't blow any minds. Just my own? Cool.
