More Ups please.

This day was a strange day. Let's start from the beginning. I woke up after a delightful sleep. I had a killer dream that I managed to wrangle control of in the wee hours of the morning. I awoke briefly at 5 am and kept repeating key concepts and ideas from the dream I had been having and it took hold as a lucid dream. The best kind of dream! The main concept was something called the Jump and two characters were Conrad and Nate. Nate was my peer and Conrad was a trainee. People living in a post apocalyptic world used the Jump to physically move around the terrain. It is like a teleporting portal as near as I could tell. Nate and I theorized that if you go back and forth quickly through the same portal you could actually travel time! I'm getting ahead of myself though. So we were part of a group of survivors trying to re-start civilization. Nate and I were the leaders of the group and worked tirelessly to keep them safe. Safe from what? Machines made to look and mostly behave like zombies. We had armed most of the group. My weapon of choice was a machete that I used to cut the heads off the villains. Anyways, at one point I decided to test our theory and ended up going to an unknown time. It must have been in the past because the machines did not rule and it was generally peaceful except the dangers of the seedy location I found myself. I met a girl who was a barmaid at a gin joint called Wong's. It was also a bit of a greasy spoon. Wong was a real character and I started working there as a bus boy somehow. I felt a real connection with the girl, then I realized that I had seen her in my proper time fleeing from the machines. It was strange but very familiar. So I had to save the girl and take her back to my time (which makes no sense cause there would be two of her and all that change the future crap could come into play but bear with me, it was a friggin dream). So I discover a Jump under the back room of Wong's place. I start to suspect that he knew about it all along and was part of a bigger conspiracy. This strand of the story is ignored when I spot Conrad, my trainee. He has come back to find me and says that Nate is in trouble and is going to try and get to me for help. Conrad and I try to figure out how to access Wong's Jump, which wasn't supposed to exist before the machines. I'm about to use it with the girl to get to Nate to help him but then I woke up. Pretty awesome dream despite my description of it here.

So all that was pre-7 am. I got up, went to work, felt very tired despite the 8+ hours of restful sleep. Get to work, it had rained more in the night, internet was dead until 12pm. It felt like I was being crushed under a negative snowball. I was getting a lot of downs and frustration, I needed some ups. So I gritted my teeth and made a tough choice. We packed the trucks up and headed out to spray a site by hand. It was muddy and unpleasant. Then I ambitiously decided to hit the next one. This one went by very quickly and we were back to the farm by quittin' time. I was very tempted to try for a third one on my own but the ground was too muddy so I settled for cutting and raking my lawn for the second time this year instead. Also a rewarding activity. I had a Conversation with Cheese and the GRP and you should listen to it if you like Star Wars at all. It was fun. I'll stop now as you will be heading over to check that out.
