Tender Tuesday

I got the so-called Narnia deal for lunch at work today. It was amidst a busy and productive day that saw me all over the place. I started on the road, met my crew at a spot and then sent most of them away. This opened the door for the Narnia deal. You might be asking what this meal could consist of and why it has such a peculiar name. Well, as it happens, I can answer both those riddles for you. The name is the longer of the two to explain so I will start with that. I'll set the stage. The year was 2014, summer. One of my assistants and I had to buy a lunch that was not prepared at home. Our options were limited and healthier options were basically nill. We settled upon the grocery store. I approached the deli counter with some apprehension. Thinking I would get a box of potato wedges like I always dreamed of doing in high school. I can afford these luxuries now at this stage of my life so I carefully relayed to the clerk the order which I was longing for. She suggested an alternative. A daily special combination choice. What madness was this, more food for less? The deal as it stood was quite remarkable. I will pause at this juncture to tell you what it was comprised of. Two chicken tenders and all the wedges that could be stuffed into the box around them. The equivalent of a medium wedge plus the bonus of chicken. The shocking part of this otherwise mundane tale is the price. A medium box of wedges retails for $3.99 at this establishment. The combination deal is only $2.50! I'm not a professor of ECON 1050 (mmmmmmm) or anything but that seems ludicrous. My assistant also incredulous with the economics of the deal loudly proclaimed to the shopkeeper, "2.50?!? What is this Narnia?!?" After I contained my amusement, we paid and departed. The Narnia name stuck as those kinds of things are wont to do. So I had the Narnia deal for lunch. What a world we live in. The store workers refer to it as Tender Tuesday. I find both names to be amenable but enjoy the story that provides my personal name for the deal. What do you think?
