Back in the Swing

Well today turned into a long day. Just twelve hours but no big deal, more to come of these. I just can't wait to be through planting. It's a non-stop cavalcade until then, actually this whole job seems like an endless pit some days. But it's not supposed to be fun, that is why you get paid to do it, if it was just for fun then no one would do it. That's the name of the game hombre!

I had a pretty significant variety of a day that left my mouth tasting weird. I started off with a crisp 90 minute drive to a planter training session for our new toys. We have some very fancy planting coming up this year. That ate 2 hours, then a return drive of the same length. This was followed up by a delicious lunch which I'm will end up not being free in the end. Then I finally made my triumphant return to my farm to show my face to my kids. I punctuated the triumph by walking in smoking a cigar. Mayhaps this is where the taste in my mouth came from. I smoked another later for good measure. I told two of my kids about my true purpose of missing the start of the week. They were not scared outwardly but I could sense their trepidation. I used my feelings to do this. Cheese knows what I mean finally!

Anyways, after getting them sorted out and getting caught up on their process I got them busy with tasks and set about my own. They wrapped up around 5pm but for ol' Tugboat there would be more, so much more. I didn't get home until 8pm. I did some field work for no real reason, they could have done it tomorrow and will indeed need something to do but once a roll is started then who's to stop it? Certainly not inertia! There will be other things for everyone to do tomorrow anyways so harm and no foul. I am going to eat the last of the meat in a sandwich and find my slumber. That is the way I see it!
