Conversation Constuction

I woke up today to the sun beating in on me. I was cocooned in two sleeping bags, quite comfortable on an air mattress. It was a sweet way to rise. I was then quickly treated to pancakes with fruit and yogurt. A treat I would not experience in my own world. As you would discover if you stopped immediately and shifted back a post, or mayhaps have previously indulged in the post preceding this one, I was not in my own home when I arose this morn. But the morale of the story is that the pancakes were tasty. After some chatting back and forth about general things, Two Glasses had to meet a friend to create freezer meals, which is both an intriguing and exciting concept to me. This left Cheese and I alone to do our thing. For the first time in several months, we were going to lay down some conversations. We had a couple already percolating so it was quick and easy to get into it. You can check the Conversation section in the coming week or weeks to see what we did but they are good ones. I'm happy we got back in the saddle.

Cheese and I had to break for lunch at one point, he had a coupon for Harvey's and was interested in going there. I was also hankering for some Taco Bell. There is one in London but not where I live and he is the only person I know that is willing to indulge me in this habit so I thought it the golden opportunity to strike but there was something else that weighed into our final decision to go to Harvey's (whoa! spoiler alert). It was the summer of 2004, I was making more frequent trips to Ottawa at this time to visit a friend. Partway on that journey is a service station in the town of Port Hope. There is a Harvey's right there on the highway. I had made many stops there over the years during my professional excursions without incident. This particular journey I made the usual stop but with heavy consequences. I became ill from the food. It escaped me in one direction, and not the top. Hope you aren't eating. A few short weeks later I was back on that road and decided to offer an opportunity for vindication but was met with the same dastardly result as the first trip. It was then, more than ten years ago, that I swore off Harvey's forever. So when Cheese made the suggestion I was curious, and more importantly, willing to try again because ten years is a long time.

It was a success. The meal was good, the atmosphere was quite interesting and lead to more conversations afterward. When I returned home later in the day I raked the dead grass off the front lawn and decided to refresh myself with a nice cool glass of milk that had expired on March 30. This may have been my undoing. I was not right a few hours later. I won't go into any more detail but those expiry dates are there for a reason. All in all it was an early night for the Tugboat. What adventures will Sunday hold? Stay tuned for the details.
