Partial Family Feast

Another late start with some lingering in bed. I didn’t shower today, though I should have. The morning lounge in bed was facilitated more by HomeScapes today. Once the Mini got low on power I moved to the office and started working on the MSC challenges. My goal was to knock down June and get my perfect status for the month. That is what played out. I got through the last of my podcast queue around noon and went down to prepare some leftovers for my first meal of the day. The combo I got out today was to put one of the chickpea based Indian dishes on some of the leftover rigatoni, warm up the chicken balls and red sauce and the crossed sauces with rice. The two mixed sauces were chicken curry and butter chicken sauces that actually mixed together beautifully. That was scooped up by the garlic naan bread. I included a Pepsi cause I’m on vacation. It was tasty and filling. I will overshare and say that the farts from this conconction were magnificent. Very enjoyable.

There wasn’t much that happened after the meal that would be considered productive either. I did finish the June MSC challenges and got a got lot of the July ones wrapped up. I ate a considerable amount of chocolate covered almonds. I played more HomeScapes. I answered a couple of work calls that came in reluctantly. I watched a number of episodes of Hot Ones on YouTube that I’d skipped over previously. Very quiet afternoon. Around four it because apparent that our Family Feast was going to happen early this week. We also learned that Sudbury sister wasn’t able to get the necessary ingredients and had to get ready for a yard sale at the in-laws. She tapped out, the first of us to do so since we started this last fall. We didn’t make it a year. The energy level was lower this time. I was pretty focused on chopping myself. It was my selection of a meal this time, and I picked chicken and sausage jambalaya. I like saying it, it only made sense I’d pick it. I seem to recall being rushed to make a choice also. I had some improvisations in my preparation. I used cooked shrimp, I used jasmine rice that was more than par-boiled, I used bacon and cheddar sausage rather than chicken andouille sausage, and I skipped all onion components. Here are the results.

The consensus was that they were all a bit looser than expected. I took the lid off at one point to try and boil off some of the liquid but it didn’t seem to matter. I added some extra spice to mine also, being of the mind that it should be a spicy dish. I used some parsley to garnish rather than scallions. I ate mine while it was piping hot. I wish I’d let it cool down some. I poured large amounts of cool water in my food hole to abate the painful burning but it just left me with an angry tummy for an hour afterward. After selecting the next dish and date I moved downstairs and started playing FS19. The big news is that STL sister is excited for the border to open up, they are scheming a bit on when they can return to Canada. There wasn’t much banter this time for whatever reason so I just played my game until and after the call ended. Around nine I came upstairs and got ready for bed. An hour of re-listening to Deception Point on Audible later and I was asleep. Another big day of doing nothing critical.
