Soggy Slowness
The day started suddenly as I jolted awake at half seven from the clutches of some engaging dream I forgot moments after opening my eyes. Sort of disappointing to me that the best sleep of the night is trying to manifest at the last minute as if my body was procrastinating like a college kid. I awoke but I didn’t rise immediately. I put on a true crime podcast and languished in the sheets for a few minutes, agreeing with myself that we could for-go breakfast today. I had my first shower in a few days and got myself quickly ready for the day, pulling up to the helm a couple minutes after eight. The morning was exciting, three meetings and trying to scramble folks to help move my things forward. When dealing with my US counterparts it is often difficult to get prioritized amongst the much larger aspects of the US business. I’m sometimes surprised we can pull it off. I broke my fast about ten minutes early to account for the missing early meal. I had my usual lunch. A can of Campbell’s Chunky Pepper Steak and Potato soup and a Stouffer’s Bistro Custini, Mozzerella and Meatball panini. I watered the plants again, they seem to be extra thirsty the last week or so. While I was tooling around the living room I snapped a pick of last week’s meal plans and the results.
Obviously I haven’t created the plan for this week but tonight will be leftovers. Might have to try for tacos on Wednesday, for cultural reasons. I was thinking it had been a couple weeks with Cardboard Pizza as the hump day anchor and that I’d built around that. I guess I’ll see what I dream up. We know Friday is already decided. That pontificating will have to happen later, work is first. The afternoon was booked solid with meetings. Several were added as the morning went on. In the midst of that, there was an issue with the shipment from last week that was brought to my attention. Always good to be wrong when you’re late. I think I’ve got it resolved but won’t find out until morning. My last meeting ended at half five and I wrapped up a couple things quickly before powering down. I didn’t have the appetite for more issues. But I did have an appetite for a leftover deuce log. I warmed up the original blown out version then melted some cheese on top. It was incredible. What a brilliant meal. I’ll have to try and replicate this effort.
After a very easy cleanup I watched a handful of recently posted videos from the channels I subscribe to. At seven I made my way to the basement to watch the Leafs. I got caught up on Musings and witnessed the Leafs fall in OT. They had it won but gave up a goal in the last minute and then blew it in OT with less than a minute. They had several breakaways and a two on nothing in OT. All Swedish and no Finnish as they say. Despite the outcome I had an enjoyable evening and I think that dinner was a big part of it. Was in bed ahead of ten bells.
