Touring Tugboat
It was another day that started with reluctance to escape the comforts of bed. Since it was a big new day, there was going to be a shower, something of a deterrent in recent months. Since I’d be leaving the home, McBreakfast could be an option but instead ai decided to prepare my own. Since there was no indication of when lunch would happen it was decided to have the traditional breakfast bullets. I was planning to use the half hour before I had to start work to get Sunday’s amusing posted but a colleague reached out and we ended up in discussions for two hours. The entirety of my commute to the Chatham area. I met up with some folks and we toured a couple of sites with one of our new technologies. It was good to get back out in the field to walk some plots and do some learning. We had sanitizer and masks and were prepared for whatever befell us. It was a beautiful day to be outside touring, hot but not oppressive. Especially at the last site of the day where we were a few hundred feet from Lake Erie.
At the end of the day we had some discussion and some in-person laughs that aren’t very common any more. I had a long drive back, the sun robbed me of my usually low level of energy and I forgot to remove my work boots. Upon arriving home I prepared a lackluster dinner that happened to include something green. The portion was almost appropriate as well. I warmed up some rice and a chicken breast so prepared on the weekend and added a half can of cut green beans. I didn’t add anything additional and just mashed into those three items. I felt like I could have eaten twice as much but that’s not what we’re doing here. It was nice.
After dinner was over the waiting game began. First I killed some time with some NHL20 then was able to flip over to the Blue Jays game. Baseball has been back for a few days but I haven’t bothered with it. I was just distracting myself until the real deal came on. The Leafs vs Habs exhibition game. The one and only tune up before the play-offs start, Leafs beginning on Sunday. The game was electric from the start. Nice little intro then a Leaf goal immediately. It was odd seeing no fans and some of the new camera angles will take getting used to but we’re back. The late start meant that I passed out watching the game. I figured that was coming so I moved to my bed with a smaller screen for the third and not sure I even saw the puck drop. I woke up hours later to confirm they’d won it. I got a full, wall to wall sleep. Not sure if it could be attributed to the Leafs win or the hours in the sun. Guess we’ll never know.
