Sneaky Staycation

I started my third week of vacation today without even realizing that it happened. Things started like any Friday. I had a ninety minute call with my US colleagues and received several phone calls during that window. I then spent the next hour returning those calls and answering questions. Then I was able to clear up the random requests that came over the wire in the past twenty four hours before lunch. I decided to go simple with lunch. You don’t mess with a classic. Hot dog and a Pepsi!

Most of the rest of the afternoon was spent in Summer Hours, where we get the Friday afternoon off if we work 40-50 minutes extra for the other days, something I’ve spoken of in previous posts. I enjoyed them this week by using that time to start cleaning my house. Part of why my third week off of the year is being used for a staycation is because my parents are coming to do their once every two year visit. Originally the were going to STL to see my sister, whom they see annually (because she doesn’t get home as often nowadays) but the pandemic crushed those dreams. They’ve been spending time with my youngest sister as she moved into her first house so they are using the week they’d booked off to come see the third option, me. They are going about it right so far though, asking what they can bring me, would I like this or like that. Smart. The Big T even offered to grab me some beers, I’ll be paying him back but it’s still nice of them to bring it to me. I’m on my last twenty pack from last fall now. I’m trying to come up with a list of activities and projects to keep them busy, especially the T, he has no chill. He has to be kept moving, there is no off button. I’ve got a start but ideas are welcomed. That’s about it, it was not an exciting day.
