System Shock

Today was a different kind of day for the Tugboat. Much different than the others of the last 3 months. I was much more active than normal. I was up relatively early with thoughts of Home Depot dancing in my head. I talked myself out of it but I did get an early start. I fired up some laundry, had to wash clothes for the week and wanted to get bedding again. I had a couple of breakfast bullets and folded the previous week’s laundry which had waited patiently in the dryer all week, now I’m totally caught up. While I was cooking I kept getting little nuggets on the bottom of my feet and decided enough was enough, so I swept and washed all the non-carpet floors in the place. I cleaned the upper bathrooms a bit deeper too. I have one more phase of depth to tackle before I’ll be satisfied. I got the dreaded duster out to kill some time too. I did a cursory pass of the main floor. More than anything it showed me that I really need to wash all the walls in the house. I was killing time until it was late enough in the morning to finally do the thing I was dreading doing all weekend.

I finally got after it and buzzed the lawn off. The old woman next door saw me doing it and gave me a strange approving nod. I thought she may have mouthed the words thank you. It was fairly warm out and it wasn’t long before I was dripping with sweat. I’ll be honest with you, I was very tired by the end, it was as if I’d run two miles. I’m terrifyingly out of shape and now I’m seeing the extent of it. While I was in the swing of things I did some spot spraying with Roundup of grass coming through the fence and other large weeds in corners and such. I then did a deep clean of the mower for the first time and sprayed it clean. I did the same to my feet and new crocs. I swept out the garage and felt exhausted, winded and good. I didn’t know how to stop so I vacuumed before making a simple lunch of rice and chicken from my previous day’s efforts. I worked on my recliner issue, trying to discern without instruction how to reassemble the recline linkages. Not quite there, just got sweaty and frustrated. I made a serious dinner today too.

I finally cooked up some of my chicken burgers I got from Sysco. They are pretty small and firm. Definitely white meat which was nice. Because of their size, I threw two of them between some welfare buns with a little yellow mustard. This is a classic Tugboat meal from year’s past. It was quick and easy. I made short work of the pair without feeling incredibly full. I watched a film for dessert. Killer Elite seemed to be a mindless action film but in the end it was based off actual events and people, which caught me off guard. I also mounted my sturdy steed, stationary bicycle during that film for the first time since the world closed. The left pedal was loose and malfunctioning so I had to stop half way and fix it. Hopefully now it will work smoother. There is a movie club film viewing scheduled for tonight so I’m thinking it will be a late night, hopefully that doesn’t dislodge tomorrow too much.
