Beefy, Cheesy Feel

Today was Victoria Day. A Canadian holiday to celebrate the old Queen. In a less pandemic year it is the unofficial start to summer where people go to their cottages and set off fireworks and have a heck of a party. This year is different, for most people. The biggest difference this year for me is that there is no debate about having to work if the weather is nice. This is the first time in about fifteen years that the question was removed. It has been interesting. I’m sure I’ll share a larger retrospective on that later. For now, let’s dive into the mundane minutia that I metered out during the day. I’ll start by sharing that I got off to a late start. Some friends and I watched a film last night, it was my pick. I had to do some research to make sure everyone had access. In the end, I chose The Saint with Val Kilmer. It was a decent choice for the group. We had some laughs and stayed up real late. Once awake, I dove into recording some chapters for Tales from The Tugboat before making a big perogy breakfast. My next chore was to watch Battlefield Earth. It was much more terrible than I thought possible. Much more interesting is the back story about the film. I’ll let you discover that on your own. Since I’d finished the Dune audiobook I’d been enjoying the previous day I elected to keep the sci-fi theme going and watched the 1984 Dune film. If I hadn’t read the books I wouldn’t have had a clue what was happening in that version. I think that movie was made just for readers of the novels. It was time for meal two but I was still lacking initiative so I laid out some sliced cheese on a wrap and dumped some warm ground beef on top. It was akin to a burrito. I very much enjoyed it. I topped off the afternoon and evening by watching Archer season 10. It was a very unproductive holiday at the Harbour.
