I set out a goal for myself, I worked hard and achieved success. I told you two weeks ago that I wanted to last two weeks between shops and it took some dedication, a hang over, and some questionable meals. I have been out and about in that time for various reasons but made no purchases of food on any of those excursions. I was saving it all up for this big moment. I followed a similar routine as I followed last time I shopped on April 28, 2020. I left unreasonably early after conducting a thorough search of my home to create a comprehenisve list. I went to McDonald’s and got a breakfast, which was savoured while waiting in the parking lot until the Senior hour was up. I did saunter up to the door early again and again I was welcomed. This time I saw several non-seniors enter ahead of me so I asked the security guard if it was okay that I was in there. He was cool with it. I got everything on my list. The eggs were back to full strength and from a supply standpoint, it was like it was pre-COVID-19. The rules and regulations are new and not going anywhere. The staff added nice, coloured stickers at the ends of the aisles to help people figure out what direction they should be going. The store was relatively quiet so there wasn’t many people but more than half of those present sported masks and gloves. I suspect that this trend will continue for the foreseeable future. The obvious positive is that it will allow people to speak as moistly as they want. The downside is that I won’t be able to see how pretty girls are anymore. I’ll just have to guess like I do when I see them in cars. I picked up some extra items that I’ve never bought before but there will be more on that later. The experience was predictable and quick for me. It felt a bit more normal so I guess I’m adapting. I didn’t go as hard on freezer items because I have some big space items coming in this week that I ordered through other channels. I ordered some stuff from Sysco and I’m hoping to get an order in with the Chef before the week is done. I’ll keep you aprised. I got everything back home and wiped off with Clorox wipes and stowed in in the appropriate areas just in time to start my work day. I also got a load of laundry done today and was on conference calls from 10am until 4:45pm. I did get a break for lunch but was so busy catching up that I just crushed a couple of granola bars. I’m going to have a nice supper tonight.
