The Switch
Corn is down, soybean is up next. #Plant18 as it's known on social media is buzzing along. It's been a slow and frustrating spring that has seemed to stretch on forever. I predicted in the middle of April that it would be a long haul and would eat up six weeks of my life. I never shared that with you, phantom reader, but it doesn't make it any less real. So we're entering the sixth week. I think I have a path to victory but it might stretch into the next week for the last site. I have 4 sites left and the demo stuff and a small block at the farm. I'm hoping to go nail down a site and still have enough hours in the day to nip a piece off at the farm. I thought about doing two sites a day but that seems unlikely at this point. So I'm not going to be greedy, just try to get what I can when the getting is good. The forecast is darkening with rain by the hour seemingly but I'm hoping for the best, positivity and all that. I have to keep that up, because today I found water in the basement for the first time. I looked under a rug and it looks like there was more previously. I have two potential suspects, the sewage pipe coming from the toilet above the washer, or the washer itself may have gotten tired and puked out some water. Either way, I'm not very happy with it. I killed the water to the toilet so if there is more water I am done laundry today I'll have my answer. I'm not thrilled either way, it's been 5 dry years down there. I would like to know when and why it happened, it's been somewhat dingy smelling down there for a spell now, and my lone pillow on the couch is closing in on rank. Now that the end is in site, it's time to get back to living life. I'm on a cleaning binge today, taking a small break to write this, and rest. I've got the floors done, laundry, bedding, etc. Now I have to start on the walls, then eventually the windows. I'm trying to find a deep cleaning service like those realtors use to help me get this place back to a nice base level for the next five years. I'm not good enough to do it on my own. Know anyone?
