They Did What?!?
The vacation continues. It is still on the rough side as far as vacations go but there is hope that work intrusions might tail off as the weekend approaches. Still probably an hour a day will get ripped from my clutches, at minimum. I'll get that time back, if it kills me. It could be that dramatic. I've already received the seemingly daily shipment that I was forced to receive by some ineptitude and inexperience of a new staffer, but I don't want to dwell on that when I only have a small space to write what the headline refers and I assure you that it is not a work item. Last evening, as previously arranged, She and Brown made their annual March voyage across to the Friendly City to dine with me. This is the third year in a row that we've had this delightful evening. Unexpected was them staying over, but I welcome the opportunity to play host, especially when on vacation, I'm quite good at it, in my humble opinion. Brown had to be away at 5:45am to make his early morning meeting so I woke up ahead of that to make him a coffee and tidy up. He slept in a smidge but I didn't want to mother him by waking him up. I helped him don his coat and shooed him out the door instead. But we're getting ahead of ourselves here. She napped before dinner while we waited for Brown, checking another traditional box. We decided to go to Kelsey's on this occasion, due to the discount we'd receive, and the threat of a new menu item. There was little doubt or discussion about what Brown and I wanted to share as an appetizer. We got the limited time only Cap'n Crunch Chicken Fingers (pictured below).

That red sauce you see is a garlic chili sauce which provides a delightful kick to accompany the sweet taste from the cereal as well as a honey based glaze on the plate. It had texture, layers of flavour, and was fried. If I knew anything about reviewing food I'd say it takes the tongue on a tasty trek through countryside surrounding flavour town. In summary, I'm a fan. I followed that up with the All Day Breakfast Burger, cause I'm on vacation.

I've had this a couple of times before. Each time I wolf it down like a beast, not even taking the time to appreciate what's actually on it. I know there is egg cause it becomes a glaze on my fingers by the end. It's just the right kind of sloppy mess. I'm getting pretty supportive of Kelsey's here. I do enjoy their wares but I have stated publicly in the past that I find them fairly generic. I do support their attempts at trying on a new hat of the "Original Roadhouse" whatever that means. Dessert was another culinary anomaly. A delicious, delicious anomaly.

She and I shared this delightful little treat. You're wondering if that is insulation as a garnish on the side of the plate. It is not. It's cotton candy! What will they think of next. So I fell prey to the marketing of this restaurant. I ended up sampling the new, feature items that were plastered all over the menu. Brown and I ordered the only two items actually pictured in the menu as well. All in all, we're suckers; suckers that enjoyed a terrifyingly unhealthy and tasty meal. We returned to the Harbour and it was decided by flipping the lid of a bucket that my guests would stay the night, probably for the best after strapping on that unique feedbag. To tie this puppy up, it was the first time on my vacation that I actually felt like I was on vacation. Let's hope for that to continue!
