Super Secret Surprise
We did it! We got him good! We orchestrated a surprise diaper party for Cheese. He had no idea it was coming. We worked with Two Glasses of Wine to execute the surprise. This was months in the planning and despite several last minute hurdles we got it done. The Beer Guy and Booje came to me months ago and asked if we could have the party at the Harbour if it was under ten guests. I agreed but specified that one had to be the Chef. That turned out to be awesome as he brought us a mountain of meat to delight in. And that I will continue to delight in for several more moons. So the surprise, which was the hardest part, happened after Cheese finished work on the Friday. Initially, we'd planned to have 2GW and Cheese come to the Harbour for a post-harvest dinner celebration. Then 2GW found out her company Christmas dinner (no spouses) was happening the day of the surprise. So she couldn't come to the Harbour, how do we get Cheese there. Also, he didn't have any shows slated for that night but one came up and was scheduled. That meant that 2GW had to contact the troupe and get them to play along. That had been done already for their Saturday road show as part of the initial plan. So we settled on 2GW saying she'd pick him up at work and bring him home (so he could eat and change) after work before his show. She did not tell him she had her party that night. When he stepped outside his work, rather than 2GW waiting, it would be the Tugboat, Booje and Rek waiting to kidnap him! This was moving along nicely until we found out one of his clients bailed. So he was going to be done early. Noooo! We had to move up the timetable but Booje and Rek were both coming in from out of town. Luckily they were both early and we could leave sooner. 2GW bought us more time by playing the pregnancy card and demanding he come to her job, adding 10 minutes of walking for him. So that is how it played out. He got there an approached his vehicle and we rolled down the windows of the truck parked a couple of spots over and surprised him. We got to the Harbour before the others and ordered some hilariously undercooked pizza, had some beers and generally laughed it up. Saturday morning was a truck stop brunch, bowling and a brewery tour. The meat mountain adventure capped off the day. Sunday happened very fast, breakfast, goodbyes, a few Big T style errands for the Tugboat and that was it. 2GW came to pick up Cheese and a whole car load of diapers, GRP went to the airport and the others were already off. Good times!
