Rain Golf
Now that I've paid my dues, I can talk about the rain golf event. Well it was more of an annual tournament for a local bar in town that I was invited to play in, but it turned into a rainy day. Philly Nads and I were in one cart and Brown and She took the other. So made a foursome. It was a one hundred clams a head, which was for the golf, a prize and a tasty steak dinner. The joke for Brown and I was that we kept saying it was a steak dinner when that had never been communicated to us. I guess our steak mindset made it happen. Either that or steak is the traditional fare for such events. The steak was good, a rare treat for me and the sides were excellent, and loaded with bacon, likely a factor in their excellence. The golf itself started in the rain, continued in the rain, and ended in the rain. We did get a ticket to use at the turn that provided us with a free hot dog and one free drink. As it turns out, the bar owners also bought us a shot, I don't know what it was but it was tremendous! I had smuggled some Twisted Teas onto the course for my own enjoyment but that stuff was way nicer. Nadsy smuggled on a few tall boys and we had a nice day of it booze-wise. I wasn't driving home so I didn't care. It helped to alleviate the frustration from the rain. I did solve the mystery of my driver and was able to hit it long and predictably. I'm sure the wet turf helped keep the ball from sailing through the fairways. We played poorly but had fun, we finished around even par, which was far from last place we found out. The winners were ten under par, which is questionable. We did get closest to the beer box prize for Nadsy's shot that missed the green and almost hit the empty beer box. After golf, Brown, She and I headed to Winners while Nadsy went home to his pregnant wife, understandably. They needed to buy new clothes, as their's were too wet to continue the day. I had the luxury of changing and showering at home before dinner. We mingled with the crowd as little as we could manage and snuck out as soon as we could manage. Brown and She alternated naps while we burned through the first season of Letterkenny. She went and bought a cake for Brown's bday and some appy's at one point and we had that and watched Let's Be Cops together before they departed. That pretty much took up my whole day. I hope to spend tomorrow tidying the house and reading my book. What's crazy world I live in!
