Duffed

Well let's get the unpleasantness out of the way first. There was no rain again. The forecast had big number for rain forecasted and none of it happened. What did happen is that the big numbers got downgraded some and then no rain appeared. Again. I see this a trend. The trusting relationship I had with the forecasters has been severely eroded like a soil would be if we'd gotten rain. I feel like it's a tale of two forecasters. It's like I'm dating two forecasters at once now. I have the dependable reliable forecaster who is there most of the time, through thick and thin. The one that is there for the good times and the bad, the regular forecaster. Then there is this new sexy forecaster that tells you what you want to hear and shows you glimpses of something you want so badly. The temptation is very strong to go along with this new seductress. Walk into the trap of believing the too good to be true promises that are on the table. I can give you this and no one has to know, we're just predicting a little rain, no harm done. But you go back to the regular forecaster and are told there will be no rain and don't hope for it, it's a pipe dream. But wouldn't it be so satisfying to just go with the promise of something better? I've learned the behaviour to be more pessimistic and expect the worse through years of my reliable forecaster so that is what I'm going to go with, I won't stray anymore. So yes, there's that. But the main event yesterday, other than re-doing that work I went off about last time, was that the Duff was in town and asked if I could go for dinner with him. We exchanged some texts and arranged the event. We had a couple beers and a 2.5 hour discussion which mainly centered around work, that's how you know we're both workaholics, his wife is good though, I got that much out of him. But it was nice to see the old Duffer again, it'd been over a year, maybe two, it was two, for sure two years. Wow does time fly when you're older. I'll be meeting with him again tomorrow in an even more professional setting if that's possible. The other tidbit of news is that the fam jam that was to take place this weekend at Jacko's has been called off. The cause is being reported as poor forecast. Turns out they are going to be getting too much rain up there. Hahahahahaha! The irony! It's probably more likely that the Beer Guy was going so it got called off just to avoid another TV slam incident. Hi yo! Too soon Cheese and Beer Guy?!?
