More Hot, but Different Hot
I made moves today to try and get at least part of the day in the refuge of my truck's air conditioning. But that didn't stop me from getting fired up today. We had to re-do some work today that was destroyed by the heat and the dry. We also had to water a lot of plants. That is not my job. That is nature's job. Nature is supposed to be looking after the rain. I guess the weather has finally gone corporate. Asking people to do more with less. Not caring how it affects them. Just asking them to deal with it. It seems this is a universal trend across several industries with large corporations right now. My company and it's competitors are all doing it. Eliminating jobs left and right and not slowing down, just handing out the departed's responsibilities to others. Sometimes this is effective like when you have a whole group of people doing half jobs but subjugating (proper use?) your highest performing people to this is probably going to have a negative effect no? Someone going the extra mile and doing extra work to make the company successful, hell, bleeding the company colours for decades is asked to do more for no extra money or incentive at all. I wonder if that makes that person work harder or less hard. It guess it doesn't matter, just ripens them to quit or be eliminated in the next round, maybe to be replaced by a cheaper option if the job is deemed business critical. And thus the machine rolls on, selling new concepts and half baked ideas to shareholders to bump the price up a percentage of one point before the quarter closes. Gotta appease the almighty shareholder, they need to have their precious profit so they keep coming back for another squirt from the corporate teat. The worker is as much a commodity as whatever it is that is being sold, if anything. My mother got me on to this subject, got me all worked up. Her company is doing the same thing as mine. Two Glasses of Wine's company is certainly acting like a corporation too. Two years ago I would never have dared utter any opinion on the matter, I'm much more jaded now. I don't like that I know how the world works in this arena. I preferred when I was big eyed and bushy tailed, with a bright future of prosperity in front of me, no danger to speak of. Now I'm a rudderless fiend. A fiend! When I sat down I thought I was going to leak out some disappointment with a one-time fav comedian of mine for spouting misinformation on a viral video about Clif Bars which are 70% organic. I guess I'll save that for another time or for a disappointed letter to the voice actor. I feel like that effort will be a massive waste of time based on one of two possible facts, either I write it, hate it, and chicken out; or two I send it and get no reply and live with the assumption that it was never read, like a certain letter to Young Clark. Aw well, this is a more negative musing, probably the songs that have come on, like that non-remix version of the song I mentioned last time. It's a totally different tone. Haven't checked it out yet? Why not?
