Grizzly Game Recap - Winter Playoffs Game 2

I didn't get an update call from this game. It was radio silence. That could mean only one of two things. Either it was a laughable blowout or things went terribly wrong. It took until the middle of the next day to get an update but I have the news. Naturally I post dated it to the date of the game.

The weather was bad, it was a big factor in the game. The Grizz goalie was late, league rules stipulate that as soon as he is geared up the opponents, Performance Mazda Men, would get a penalty shot. Naturally, being cold he lets it in, so before the opening face-off the Grizz are already down. Still cold he also let in the first two shots so down 3-0 after 2 minutes is big hill for any team to climb. To say the PMM squad now had a psychological advantage is an understatement. They didn't stop there either. They kept pumping in long bomb prayer shots throughout the game. The PMM net-minder also had a strong game, actually their whole team played really well. They definitely got up for the game. With the heavily favoured Grizz on their heels after last week's surprising loss the PMM smelled blood in the water and went for the kill. Admiral Bonesaw added a goal but it was all too little too late. When the dust settled the score was 7-3 for PMM and the Grizz are finished. After one of the most impressive regular seasons they lost two straight in the playoffs and are relegated to the consolation round. They can still come 3rd in the league somehow but that means nothing to anyone.

The league posted these comments in postmortem on their site:

The first semi-final started a little late as the snow slowed the arrival of Grizzlies goalie Aneel. He was met with penalty shot to open the game from the Performance Mazda Men and they scored. Zoom Zoom the Mazda Men screeched the tires for an early 3-0 and the Grizz were off their game. The Bear woke up and closed to 3-2, but a late marker from the Mazda Men put them up 4-2 after one period and the French Palace was buzzing as the Grizz had yet to lose in regulation this session. From here on the Mazda Men played text-book defense and pulled away for a 7-3 win. Some say this was an upset win, but some feel the Mazda Men are a solid team. This Performance put them into the Finals.
