Out of this World Book

One item I forgot to mention in my weekend update (not affiliated in any fashion with SNL, although Colin Quinn probably hates looking at this as well) is that Two Glasses of Wine lent me her copy of the Martian by Andy Weir. I had been meaning to read this novel for some time. McQ himself had suggested I add it to my reading list. He warned of watching the film before the book. I find that is usually the best way, read first then look down your nose at the movie adaptation. This has worked well for me in the past and when 2GW mentioned that she felt the writing style was not entirely different than that of thetugboat.ca then I felt like I need to clamp eyes on that warlock. I brought the beast home with me, tucked safely in my ruck sack. I couldn't begin my literary journey to Mars that night as you know from reading the previous post. Haven't read it yet? What kind of time insensitive looney bin are you living in. Get down there and read it first! Don't be a fool that Mr T would pity! So yes, I was indisposed on Sunday with my guest, in a totally platonic way, before any eyebrows try to raise their gravitational potential energy. It was Monday night before I was able to sink my eyes between the pages. I started after dinner. By morning I had put 200 pages behind me. Sleep was not as readily available as it should have been....again. I really need to find duller hobbies it would seem. Wait!!! I know what else was missing in my recounting of the weekend! I finished watching House of Cards season 4. It was pretty good, not mind blowing. The final line was eerie and epic. There, that is out there. Okay, back to the book. I had to go to work all day or I'd have stayed in and finished it outright. I had to wait until I got home. A small lazy meal preceded me tearing another huge chunk of knowledge from those pages. I had to break at one point to watch my taped episode of Better Call Saul, I didn't want to fall behind. With that complete I dove through the last bit of the book. It was an excellent read. Written in a gripping and colloquial style that I couldn't imagine aspiring to. It was hard to put it down. Except for the Saul thing, I simply had to do it. By the time it was done I was looking at my bed time written across the digital face of the clock. Some tossing and turning ensued before I went down to the land of Nod. The dreams were flavoured of the book, and other weirdness. I think I better drink more water in the daytime, making for some strange dreams. Read the Martian, it's good. I better start scheming how to get that book back to 2GW. Oh, and work is happening along, same as usual. One kids has commenced, more later. Keep coming back.
