That Weekend We Found the Tired
It is getting on in the evening and I am tired. I think that is a sign of success for the weekend. Not necessarily the greatest result going into a busy week but a worthwhile sacrifice. Things started after a long fruitful Friday, the universe balanced out. There was a lot of driving but I was able to enjoy my experience. The day dragged on past five, something not unexpected at this time of the year. I did make it back to the Harbour in time to meet my little Cuz. We went out for dinner as I didn't have a good store of goods for us to consume on hand. When we got back she was full and I was thirsty. I down a few beers and we started watching old movies on the tube. She fell asleep around half past ten so I quietly shut things down and left her to sleep the night away on the couch. We both slept in and while I was waiting for her to get ready I caught up on some old episodes of shows that I had missed in the past couple of weeks. We loaded up the truck and headed for the Forest City to meet up with Cheese and Two Glasses of Wine. It was the weekend of their house warming after all. From the sounds of it they had a Social Mixer style event slated but it would end up being a bit more modest and enjoyable. No incidents like Social Mixer D to worry about. We got there first and Cuz had a Tugboat style tour of the residence via Cheese. Hernja and Double B rolled in next and we all walked down to Wortley for a lovely brunch. We stopped in at the Sweet Onion Bistro to eat. As happenstance would have it, we were served by the owner. He provided us some welcome to the neighbourhood shots of ouzo and we were off. I had a couple of pints of their beer, one in a majestic chalice. I wish I had taken a photo of it. After lunch we stopped at a grocer to acquire a few last minute items for the evening then we went back to the house and had quiet time. I guess some people started tired and wanted to alleviate that state. Next thing I knew we were back on the beers and the party was starting, punctuated by a tasty pulled pork dinner with all the fixings. 2GW was feeling a little under the weather with something from lunch not doing her any good so she had to take breaks to lie down but was a trooper and gutted out most of the night. We were blessed to have some of Cheese's local celebrity friends visit from his improv troupe. This meant there would be many laughs. Well I laughed heartily anyways, which I am wont to do. The doctors dropped in too and I got to visit with them. Allison #1 was there as well, having been in the area. The party didn't last long, it wasn't a raging all night affair. Most of the guests departed before high noon. Cuz and I helped Cheese tidy up, I was intoxicated at that point. And was given the gift of sleeping in the guest bed. It was not restful, the liquor tends to have that effect. We were treated to a delightful breakfast in the morning and then everyone departed for keeps. I drove my little Cuz back to her brand new car and she realized she had to go back to the Smoke rather than her desired destination and was not pleased about it. Who would be? She left and the better part of the day was spent lounging or napping. There was no drive to do much more than laundry. Work called a few times around dinner but I was unable to help. Not unwilling, unable. So that brings us to the now. Which coincidentally will be the end, both of this update and my night. Gotta get that restful sleep before a week of madness begins!
