Full Ocean Experience
Today started a little different than usual. I woke up before everyone else and threw on some shorts and took off. I grabbed my water and went for a hike before dawn. It only got me through half my steps for the day, which I barely got before things wound down. It was a neat experience in my retired lifestyle, seeing the park in the din of the dawn and seeing the elderly loading up their golf carts for an early morning round at the executive course. I'd be in there too but you have to be 55 to play. I'm a ways off that. I thought I might be able to shoot pool in the clubhouse but we discovered today that you have to be 35 to do that. So I'm several years too young to do that. Even though I have now owned several pool tables which left my care in great condition. But I'm not the arbitrary age they picked when they created these rules at the dawn of time. And they insinuated that they would be checking IDs if anyone without a badge dared to attempt to play. They do have a pool club that meets weekly so it is better for them if they don't have rapscallion ne'er do wells like me trying to destroy their pool tables and way of life. It's mildly offensive that they'd discriminate against me in that way but I decided I don't care and they can strictly enforce their paltry rules. They almost evicted a couple for not having their trees trimmed recently. The modicum of power these folks have is obviously more crucial to them than shooting pool for an hour would be for me, so I will let them have it. How's that for passive aggressive She?
instead of that, once we'd gathered ourselves we shot down to the Shell Bazaar. It had an impressive selection. I was able to select some nice items for the Booj and his wife. He will be pleasantly surprised when he gets them. We had an interesting experience with some jerk in a corvette. He honked and hollered for no reason and then tried to pass us in the turning lane we were about to use and ended up in the same parking lot as us. There was nothing beyond that. I wasn't looking for me, everyone has guns here! I know, I've seen the stores. We got back and tackled some lunch at the trailer before gearing up for the ocean. We went to Dollman beach for the afternoon. It was sparsely populated and the low tide meant plenty of options for shell collection and the Mayor got a good haul out of it. Tugboat docked on a towel and was even able to catch a few winks. The feet might be burnt tomorrow, time will tell. I had this weird sense that someone I know would come up and wake me up, like someone down their for Spring Break '16 but I don't really know anyone doing that so it was a strange feeling. When we had our fill we departed with a stop at Total Wines. I got a pair of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale bottles for the Mayor and I. We had a cocktail hour before making our own dinner at the trailer. Pizza, salad and cake. It was the perfect amount of chow. Another round of Paddy was necessary to dethrone the Former First Lady who had been a smug but loud champion from the previous night. Her reign had to ended and was by the Mayor as he callously assured her he would. It was all very humourous. Tomorrow will be more of the same I'm sure. Thus far this week has been a great time!
