Rare Roady
Today I got out of the house. As you may have gleaned from the previous six days, I haven't really left my property. I have been enduring a self imposed shackling to my home office desk. Working away the days with an invisible anchor strapped to my rudder. Well, I got out, after a close call earlier in the week this time I took the plunge. I sort of felt like I would get out today, based on the weather, my schedule, etc. I drove to Guelph leisurely and had some great conversations with co-workers, demonstrating the value of having an office to interact with other humans. Then I got swept up in a tidal movement of people to another facility we have in the area. Saying facility reminds me of the area in Goldeneye multiplayer more than it reminds me of the washroom, even though there is also a washroom component to the facility. Whoa, was that an inception of a reference? I'm not sure and I'm not going to slow down to find out. So at this facility was a stream of good presentations and nice Q&A session followed by a luncheon. We had some deep laughs at lunch, it was a laugh lunch. The afternoon was spent working on short term issues that had popped up during the day. Putting out fires if you will, but picture it more as fires being put out by a clown in a fireman's get up with a seltzer bottle. That is about how it felt, and every time that one went out another started right behind me in an area I had already been. Such is the way of it all. More or less I accomplished nothing to my more long term efforts on this day. After work expired, I slipped into Best Buy to purchase my weekend entertainment, Ray Donovan season 2, which after a year of trying to procure through other means like borrowing, I was forced to buy. I' opened it in such a way that the plastic is barely damaged and I could try to close it and return it but I'm not sure I could pull that off. Anyways, found myself at Brown's pub after this where I killed some time with a delightful dinner. I insisted on paying full price, which isn't always what happens there for me, being a good guy, it has its pitfalls. So this completed I had an appointment with destiny. It was my time to see Jack's home and observe the D-train in her natural surroundings. Jacky boy and I went through my computer tower, the blue beast, to see what was usable and what wasn't. He is very gifted with computer hardware knowledge. Much was imparted to me and we chatted and laughed for a couple of hours before I took my leave. The action item from our encounter was to take time of the next couple of days to find four components in need of upgrading that would optimize the rebuild and stay within a budget of $500. We decided the four components would be CPU, motherboard, graphics card and RAM. There may be an update on that as time goes on. But that was the day, it was decidedly enjoyable.
