Cubs Win!
The Cubs did it last night. They won the World Series. Once the Jays were out I didn't spend much time watching baseball. Actually, truth be told, I heard more of their games on the radio this fall than I got to watch. Then I tried the reverse psychology move where you don't watch because somehow it was your viewership that was the reason that they were losing. So if you miss a game and they win, you can't watch the next one. And then they lose when you don't watch so you watch and they win, so you have to watch the next game right, so they will be up 3-1, but they lose that anyways and it's 2-2. It's almost like what I do doesn't matter at all to them? Weird, I know. So yes, I didn't pay much mind once the Jays were out. But by some twist of fate (weather) I was home last night and didn't have much to do (read: didn't want to do much) so I watched the game. Well most of the game. I was starting to lose my consciousness in the later innings. I'm not sure why but the game seemed to drag on and on. I felt like there were far more commercials than usual. Not the frequency of the breaks, those are fairly defined as anyone that watches baseball knows but the they seemed longer, almost like the network was milking an extra minute of ads during every break. Trying to fill their boots for the winter. So it made it harder to remain awake, that and the game was started for Central time people. So when it got scary/exciting in the later innings I was fighting it, I had to move around in my bed to stay up. Then there was a delay and extra innings my sense of duty to rest before work kicked in and I purposefully rolled over and started to snore. Well, probably snore, I had enough red dog in my nasal cavity to make a pillow likely after two plots of absorbing it constantly. I got roped into the excitement of the game and awoke thinking, 'If I hadn't watched that last night, would I be worse off?' A cynical thought to be sure but in this instance, I say yes, I would have been. I'm putting my foot down on this one. The Estimator says we're millennials but it doesn't mean I have to be laisez-faire like the rest of the generation. To care is cooler than not caring in my mind and I'm glad I got emotionally invested in the outcome of that match, that game. Even if I'm going to drag ass today. Hell, it rained anyways, so it'll be a short day. Hope yours is too.
