The Rarest Treat
Today I took some personal time to facilitate personal errands. It was strange and surreal. It seems like it has been so long since I was able to move freely in the real world during work hours. For some reason I'd been getting the bug to shop. I still have something left on the list I've developed but I got the lion's share handled already. I caught up on missing birthday gifts for the most part. I started scratching items of my Christmas list already too. It all started with me having to renew my mortgage agreement. I got a better rate and longer term than ever before, it was pretty sweet. Each time I distrust the banker slightly more. He literally has all my business and all the business he could get from me but he still snakes in the grass around on me. It's hard to explain but I'm always wary, always thinking in the back of my mind that he's trying to lull me into something with small talk. He was decidedly more negative this time. Turns out the banking industry is also going through tough times. It gave me pause to wonder if any industry is thriving. My industry is slow, there are mergers in mining, banks are feeling the pinch. I was told once that if a country loses money in consecutive quarters then it should be reacting as if it is in a recession. Our nation has been losing money for some time now, and our province for even longer, why is no one talking recession. Last time it was big news, it was all about hoarding can goods and getting tinfoil hats to protect from the falling sky. This time there isn't a peep. Then I paused again, I didn't recall hearing a bell to signal the end of the first one. Did it not end? Only the reporting on it seemed to have ended. Maybe the lizard people or Illuminati or satanists or whatever conspiracy group runs the world got tired of it and shut the news down. If you're into that kind of thing then you'd believe that is standard operating procedure for "them". Either way, I think I did well at the bank but I never really know, such is the fun of ignorance. But I was able to spend the entire morning doing my own thing. It was very refreshing. I tried to work in the afternoon but the computers were down and nothing worked so I did what I could and organized files, etc. I should sprinkle in a few more days like that from time to time. It's good for the soul.
