Retrospective Recap #2
The Villa-wedding. I had just seen Admiral Bonesaw and Dutchie but we had another crossing of paths at the Vill-wedding. It was close enough that we could all leave on the Saturday morning and go home Sunday. I left at the same time they did but as it turned out, I was an hour closer to the venue than there were. It was a long and simple drive up, especially early on an overcast Saturday morning. The sun came out when I got there and it was an awesome fall day. I was able to find our cabin and park my truck and get settled before any of my bunk mates arrived. Those being the Admiral, Dutchie and the man behind Boehmian Spirits. He told me not to do much pumping of their products as they are getting overwhelmed with orders these days. But I can't help myself. They have several newer products that I wasn't aware of but am looking forward to trying. Anyways, they all arrived and we chatted and had some drinks after the lunch that was provided. The ceremony happened down by the water and was lovely. The hot apple cider they provided was a nice touch on a chilly fall afternoon. The cocktail hour began immediately and a canoe full of cold beer is always a welcome site. We laughed, chatted and caught up with old friends. Some that didn't even recognize us. I guess ten years goes by pretty quick. The dinner was nice and after stowing my charger (wedding favour) I got into some drinking. Time went quickly and soon it was eleven bells and my feet were starting to twitch. It was very warm in the reception hall so I felt like a needed to cool down before hitting the dance floor. Crushing a couple beers and a few rye and gingeys on the patio helped with that. We started to rip it up and our man from the West was in fine form. He caught the bug and although he didn't know all the tunes, he danced his heart out, well after I'd called it a night. I'm not sure where the time went but by one bell on the wrong side of midnight I was starting to look for my bed. I said good night to the groom, Villnerd, and darted for the door. It was damper than I'd hoped in the cabin, probably because of the rain. We all got decent sleeps in and enjoyed a tremendous brunch on the Sunday before packing up, saying our goodbyes and departing. I thought I could nap when I got home but I simply had too much to do. I'd been away for a long time and had to start to get my house in order. Jenmdp stopped by later in the evening and we had a nice visit. I was more tired that was appropriate for a guest but she was able to talk enough for the both of us. At a certain point she left and we had an awkward moment at the door. I'm not sure why or what but it was something. I crashed hard after a very enjoyable weekend with old friends and new friends.
