Long National Week

Well the long week is over. It was my division's national meeting this week. It happens annually in this week. Next week is a three day meeting around crop specific studies. I will be presenting three of them on the corn day. I have my presentations all wrapped up and only need but go through them once beforehand to ensure that I didn't miss anything important. I also have two bonus presentations on the Tuesday next week that I am less prepared for. Luckily, Monday is an open day that I can use to prepare for that. Clarification is needed for that a little bit. I want to make sure I hit a home run with it. I was the last option they had so it's important that I deliver lest I never be asked again. Which a couple of years ago would have been my preference but being used is better than ignored.

Last week itself was busy and flew by very fast. I must have been far from the speed of light as things moved very quickly and the experiences themselves likely aged me drastically. Meetings all day, networking at breaks and meals and then more casual forms of fraternizing in the evenings. I managed to mostly avoid the latest parts of the nights. Most of my colleagues weren't so lucky. I had presentations to give and didn't want to be lower energy and more hungover than I usually am. It was a real responsible week for Tugboat. A week that will be punctuated with the local company Christmas party. I will likely behave less responsibly at this event. Our little group will likely be dwarfed by the large groups of contract employees and full timers from the breeding stations. This is the one time a year that everything mixes together. It makes for a social mixer type of situation but jobs are all on the line so nothing reminiscent of the real and true social mixer parties. Nonetheless, I will be drinking at that speed. Like a much younger man, but with my experience and expertise. I anticipate it being a hurtful tomorrow. Wish me luck!
