Plot Squeeze
Today I am allegedly going to do my second last plot in 2015. This is attempt number 4 at getting this smaller plot put to rest. It is the same size as the one I took off last Saturday and I am hoping that it only take 2-3 hours. Anything more than that and I will start to get angry. This leaves one more that may also come off today but more likely and hopefully Monday, thus finishing my plot work. There is some light tillage to handle at the farm and after that we can shut that place down completely for the year. That is a magical day for me. Then I move back to my home office. Which is quite comfortable and the meals are more regular. Everything health wise increases very quickly once that happens. Last year it was late December by the time I got to make my move. This year it will happen a month sooner. An extra month of enjoyable times. [sigh] Anyways, I thought I would slap up some nice photos of said plots so you can soak in a big more what I do. Hopefully I can have captions on here as well.
Sometimes the plot process can get a big complicated. Here we have the combine dumping into my weigh wagon so I can get the weight and a sample. Then the grain goes into the stationary buggy. Then to the wagons that go from the field back to the farm. Usually the buggy will drive alongside the combine and it can dump on the move so that the combine never stops.
Sometimes the process is much simpler. Here The combine will come and dump in my weigh wagon and I dump right into wagons. In this case, the grower had two dump trucks and two wagons that were on a rotation. This is possible if you have multiple people to run the wagons back to the farm.
Here is a shot of our combine on our new trailer. This is the new way we are able to tie things down. Before we had to slide under the combine to do it correctly. The new trailer puts that in the past. We have to haul this beast to upwards of 10-12 off-sites every fall. It's not my favourite.
