Grizzly Game Recap - Game 9

In the ninth game of the season the Grizz found themselves heading into a rather unique situation. The were in a three way tie for top spot in the league. The game before them featured a team involved in the deadlock. That game ended in a tie so only one point for that squad. This set the stage, a Grizz win would see them vault into the top spot in the standing for the first time this year.

The game started with a flurry. The opponent went up a goal very quickly but were quickly matched by a Grizz tally. They did this again and again the Grizz answered back immediately. DOH could get no separation from this scrappy Grizz squad. Part of the reason was the building chemistry between the Beer Guy and Admiral Bonesaw. Since the Admiral finished his marathon last month his energy levels and speed have exploded and he and the Beer Guy can run the floor like a pair of gazelles with a lion in tow. This familiarity was evident in the lone goal for Admiral Bonesaw. Beer Guy was in tight to the net and made a quick, blind backhand type of pass on to the tape of the Admiral who found himself alone for an easy tap in goal. Poetry in motion. The Beer Guy didn't only set up goals, he potted two of his own. One was a weak backhand which baffled the tender. Rek's line was successful but no goals for him this time around. He did get two beers though.

The two teams remained neck and neck until the third period. The Grizz kept scoring at this point but the DOH squad trailed off. They were stymied by strong play of the Grizz goalie. He got much stronger as the game went on and was unbeatable in the home stretch. When the dust had settled the final score was Grizz 10 - DOH 5. And the Grizz are in first place! The elation may be short lived as their next opponent is the Performance Mazda Men, one of the few squads to best the Grizz this season. A good test for the league leading Grizz squadron.
