Hot Start to Thanksgiving Sunday

And they're off! I hit the ground running today and I hit it hard. Last night, only a few short hours after tossing up an entry in my internet journal here, I was tucked comfortably in my bed and starting to fade into the oblivion of the nightlands. I think the final official count was around 9:30pm. I know I woke up briefly to watch the penalty shot that cost the Leafs the game and shut off the TV but basically it was early to bed for the Tugboat. I've gone to bed early before, especially this week to crush my sickness, but this time it was a solid, dead to the world, sleep. I didn't even wake up to pee once! Conventional wisdom would traditionally dictate that upon such an early departure time to the land of Nod, one would naturally reach one's personal limit of accrued time in the sack and awaken from the slumber to greet the world with a confused and befuddled look on their potentially tired face. But as we know, the Tugboat is far from conventional. I slept past the time I thought I should wake up and all the way past the time I needed to wake up, right to seven. When tallied on the FitBit sleep meter, this was over nine hours of restful sleep. I think my body is adjusting to going off the coffee again as well. Because when I rose from my bed it was with purpose and mirth. I have been going strong ever since. I hope to carry this momentum through the afternoon to the evening and get to an advanced polling station to cast a vote in our federal election. I have lost all faith in the entire process and structure of our national government but like everyone else I don't have the means, energy or time to come up with something better then to implement it. Younger more energetic people seem to take that on only to be stymied by their inexperience or the limiting crush that life puts on people as they get older and have to pay those bills. Either way, it seems that time after time I'm not voting for someone I like or even need to win, I'm choosing the candidate and party that I hate the least. This is probably not the vision that the Greeks had when they created democracy but at least we're better than the US! Ha!.........I hope.......
