Tent-Venture - Episode 17
I’m posting the following journey undertaken by my friend Theodore Complete on their behalf.
Tent-venture episode 17
Day 98 (Sunday)
Sadie - Day 98 flowering day 42/63
Roughly 3 weeks left and I’m getting antsy for the finish line. The fall colours are in full effect, and some of the lower leaves have been sucked dry and fallen off.
Day 99
I mixed half a litre of nutrients and fed Sadie today. I also checked the reservoir pH and found it had again drifted to the alkaline range. Distilled water is looking more attractive for the next grow.
Also, the smell is getting stronger and I’m not sure what to do about it. It’s too cold to vent outside at this point so I ordered some ONA gel to help buffer the scent as it travels towards my upstairs stairwell, but I fear it will get here too late. I’ll have to consider this for my next grow, though I feel like I’m going to get enough product to satisfy me for some time from this grow.
Day 100 (Tuesday)
There are more leaves being shed every day making me think there is an issue more than just the wrapping up of flowering, but at this point I’m going to ride it out for another 2 weeks. I think there’s enough growth to keep it riding that long, and I’ll just chop it down if she looks problematic. There are a lot of pistils that have turned red, but I’m still keeping an eye on the trichromes to signal when to harvest. I could in all honesty harvest now and I’m sure I’d still be happy, but I want to push it to the limit. Also, I drained the reservoir and added in distilled water so I want her to drink the $5 investment.
I can’t touch anything on her without being coated in rosin, she’s a sticky one! It smells great but I have to remember to vigorously wash my hands before leaving the house. I also picked up an air freshener to keep near the stairs to mask residual stank.
Day 101 (Wednesday)
The anticipation is torture at this point. I ripped a tiny nugget from a lower stem to investigate with a microscope and I think it still needs some time, but not likely too much more.
Day 103 (Thursday)
Senescence continues. Every day this week I’ve gently tugged yellowing leaves to see if they come off of their own accord, and many have been. The daily pruning is roughly this size:
I’m hoping one more week until the trichromes signal harvest is ready.
Day 105 (Saturday)
I achieved what I was looking for as far as plant training is concerned so I took the screen off so she can go unbounded and relaxed into the sunset.
The Neem oil surface spray I did last Tuesday took care of the fungus gnats, or drastically dwindled their forces to the point of invisibility - both are good. I’ll keep that in mind next grow. Truth be told I had the bottle for a few weeks before but for whatever reason I was just too lazy to mix it up.
